Green verticutt and top dressed to improve putting surface. Pencil tine aerification planned for week of 6/16. Saddleback greens reported as “poufy” and will be aerified with ¼ inch tines to continue removal of thatch layer. In the fall, Poa will recede but will not die as rumored; winter rye will return. Hole 23 to be patched for repair. Afternoon greens check and watering has begun and will continue. Process to be done in reverse to minimize player impact.
Fairways fertilized week of 6/2 and are healing nicely from aerification.
Rough to be fertilized 6/10 and height to be maintained at 2”.
#11 green sod laid. Turf quality is excellent and contour is significantly improved from a 20% cupable area to 60%. Arthur Hills associates approved green grade prior and post sod laying. Roby also stated that the double green was abandoned due to encroachment as well as AH disapproval of the shape. Opening date to be determined by mother nature and assisted by Roby and staff.
Practice range in need of attention. Plan in place to improve top dress process and frequency. Use of organic matter and sand blend will also improve growth. All tees were removed from the area this week. The committee approved Roby and Matt to use mats an additional day if needed. New mats are to be ordered.
Ant bait to be applied to tee and green surrounds and fairways in June. Committee noted improved cart path at bridge to ladies tee on #26.
